Both the revised Rockingham County Comprehensive Plan and the revised Stone Spring Urban Development Plan (UDA) were adopted as written at the July 10 joint meeting of Rockingham County Supervisors and Planning Commissioners.
Although we are disappointed county leaders didn’t ultimately constrain the northeast boundary of the UDA to Route 33 and Cross Keys Road, we believe that our point was made and will be considered in any future development proposals at that crossroads.
And, as a whole, both the UDA and the revised Comprehensive Plan set Rockingham up for thoughtful growth over the next 20 years. The two documents together clearly outline a strong commitment to preservation of rural agricultural lands and natural resources and care to develop livable, walkable communities in and around existing development.
This update was a long haul, and a lot of work for everyone involved–kudos for a great outcome!
