It was great to see so many faces last month in the crowd of about 100 people gathered to think hard about how Staunton develops over the next 20 years! Comprehensive planning is complex and sometimes difficult to follow, but with so many folks offering thoughts and tracking the progress, Staunton’s next plan is sure to be a great reflection of the community’s wishes for the future.
If you weren’t able to make the January 22 Open House, there is a great digital way to follow the plan’s progress and offer input. You can scroll through this link to orient yourself to the revision process as well as Staunton’s current land use and community resources. Then you can offer input digitally on this community map. The input map is pretty neat–you can see and rate comments made by other Staunton residents and get a sense of what other folks view as issues and opportunities.
STAUNTON COMP PLAN UPDATE
The Alliance is advocating, as always, for safe, efficient transportation for cars, pedestrians and cyclists in Staunton as well as thoughtful water policy to address both water quality and quantity concerns in the city.
Additionally, Staunton has open space and even working farmland that should be recognized and prioritized for preservation in the plan.
Please give this some thought and chime in–the input map is open until March 3. You can sign up for plan updates directly from the city here, and we’ll also be in touch with the next opportunity to plug in.
Thanks in advance for everyone’s input to keep Staunton a great place to live, work and play!
