We’re excited to introduce an opportunity to cultivate young conservationists in the Shenandoah Valley—a new Conservation Fellowship developed in partnership with Shenandoah Valley Conservancy, Potomac Conservancy and faculty and staff from our regional colleges and universities.
The 2025 fellowship program is a paid position, open to four Shenandoah Valley undergraduate and graduate students. One fellow will work with us at the Alliance and the others will be placed with one of our two regional land trusts. Together, they’ll influence local natural resource conservation efforts as well as participate in joint professional development opportunities. Here at the Alliance, our fellow will have the opportunity to learn the connection between local land-use policy and our natural resources and quality of life—a unique opportunity!
Please share the position descriptions and application with students who are enrolled at James Madison University, Eastern Mennonite University, Blue Ridge Community College, Bridgewater College and Mary Baldwin University. Applications are due by February 27!
Reach out to Maya Alexander (email) with any questions. Thanks in advance for helping connect us with the right fellow!

Fellows will enjoy a 10 hour/week paid ($15/hr) employment during the remainder of the 2025 spring semester, full time employment during the 2025 summer months, and the option of an extended fall 2025 semester work experience.
