We are happy to report that after hearing community feedback and analyzing the data, transportation planners found no major expansion is needed in the Dinkel Avenue corridor between Bridgewater and Mount Crawford as long as they are careful with the number and location of connections between new development and the road.
Traffic projections showed corridor speeds to be essentially steady for the next twenty years, even with planned future development.
Planners proposed several potential access locations for future consideration as well as a separated multi-use path in the vicinity of Bridgewater’s town limits and Old Bridgewater Road. Connecting biking and walking facilities will add to the safety and quality of life of folks living in the neighborhoods along the corridor.
We are pleased to see this trend in transportation plans across the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Metropolitan Area–targeted solutions that actually work and increase safety for cars, people walking and on bicycles, buggies, and agricultural equipment.
Bravo both to the community for its advocacy and to planners for listening!
