The overview of freelance journalist Jonathan Mingle‘s new book Gaslight: The Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the Fight for America’s Energy Future begins,
“Imagine one day you receive a letter in the mail that informs you that a large energy company is planning to build a massive pipeline through your property. That surveyors will be coming out soon. That they have the legal right to do so, whether you like it or not, because this project is in the “public interest….”
Well, we don’t have to imagine. This book is about us.
Stop by one (or both!) of two local events where Jonathan will introduce his book and we’ll share stories about the hard-fought, epic battle that we WON against the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.
➡️ Thursday, June 13 at the Staunton Public Library. We’ll meet at 6:30 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room. (event details)
➡️ Friday, June 14 at Seven Arrows Brewing Co. We’ll kick off at 4 p.m. (event details)
Books will be available for sale (and signature!) at both events and a portion of the proceeds from book sales will benefit the groups still fighting for the communities and natural resources in the path of the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
We hope to see many Augusta County folks and pipeline fighters from beyond out at one of these events. Yes, this book is written, but the story is not finished—there is still much to share and learn from our fight.
Aside: There is a high likelihood that a certain musical couple who wrote and sang one of our important anthems (i.e. “We don’t want your Pipeline“) will make a special guest appearance at the Staunton library event.
