Back in February, transportation planners asked community members to share their travel experience in and around the Dinkel Ave corridor between Route 42 in Bridgewater and Route 11 in Mount Crawford. Now they’re ready to present a recommendation for improvements based on the data and the feedback they received.
Stop by the open house at Smiley’s Ice Cream on May 21 anytime between 4 and 6 pm to check out the plan, ask questions and provide any further feedback.
We’ve not seen the recommendations yet, but we’ll be looking for solutions to any identified congestion or speed issues that avoid a wider roadway, as widening or adding lanes often has the opposite effect, and in many cases invites more development and even more traffic.
In the case of Dinkel Avenue specifically, the roadway should signal to drivers to slow down as they transition from the larger surrounding roads and be prepared for pedestrians and cyclists as they enter Bridgewater and Mount Crawford neighborhoods and main streets.
Hope to see you out to talk transportation with a potential side of ice cream next Tuesday!
