Virginia’s General Assembly session is always a whirlwind, and even more so this year as the legislature convened in a new building, and about one third of the 140 members were new, including the Valley’s new state Senator Timmy French (R-Woodstock).
The Alliance continues to push for state policy that allows decisions on land-use matters to be made at the local level.
And we were pleased that the governor and legislature agreed that funding for the state’s Ag Cost Share Program should remain a priority–these dollars make it possible for landowners to adopt clean water practices like fencing cows out of streams and planting cover crops.
