Wow – 2018 has drawn to a close and we have much to be thankful for in Augusta County and the Shenandoah Valley. First and foremost, the unnecessary and destructive pipeline that Dominion had said would be in operation in 2018 is still not in the ground! While we have had some recent successes in the courts and with local governments, the fight is far from over.
We are thankful for the entire “no pipeline” team that has been doubling down on this issue for almost five years now –we have become family. If there is a silver lining in this struggle, it is the wonderful people from all walks of life that we have come to know as we have taken on a corporate bully like Dominion.
In 2018 we gave part of that family a new name as the Augusta County Alliance joined forces with others in the Valley to form a powerful team to make sure that our home remains a special place for future generations – Alliance for the Shenandoah Valley. Let’s make 2019 the year that we stop these destructive pipelines so that we can all get on with enjoying the special communities and natural and historic resources that we hold so dear in Augusta County, the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, and America.
