Joe lives in the house he grew up in on the Middle River where his two children now romp and catch critters. He spent the years after college planting trees and promptly using the money saved on traveling. While abroad he spent time on sustainable farms in Central America, at a monastery in Thailand and piloting a rainwater catchment system in a village in the Dominican Republic. After each trip, he would return with more love and appreciation for the ancient mountains that shape the Shenandoah Valley.
Since settling down, he has spent the last 12 years helping to grow a small residential solar company where he valued most the relationships he made with his coworkers and the community of people that are committed to conserving natural resources. He has also been a long time member of the Friends of the Middle River and served on their board for three years. Joe believes deeply that stewardship of the land and rivers is a vital foundation for the stewardship of our people.
