A quick reminder and some information about the upcoming primary elections, Tuesday, June 11th – there are four contested races for party nominees for state legislature in our service area (listed below).
As a Virginia voter, you are not required to affiliate with a political party when you register, so you are free to vote in one or the other party’s primary, as you may choose (but not in both). To do that, when you arrive at a polling location, just request the ballot for the party in which you’d like to cast a vote. All districts with contested races in our area only have one contested party primary, so if you live in one of these districts, vote! (Tools on how to find your district, more election info also below.)

Tools and Resources
If you’re interested in more information on the primary or the candidates for the November elections (all the state legislature is up for re-election this year!), here are some tools:
- Legislator/District lookup by address: https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/
- District profile and more election information (including campaign finance) is very well organized by vpap.org. Here’s how we’d suggest navigating it:
- Go to these interactive maps (House / Senate) and hover until you find your district, then click and click ‘More’ on the pop-up. That will take you to the district profile. Find the ‘Elections’ tab and click to see current election information and explore the hyperlinks to find more detailed information on each candidate.
