Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 12 (4:00 – 6:00 pm) and plan to attend Warren County’s community outreach meeting on the final draft of the comprehensive plan.
The community meeting should be a good opportunity for the county to provide a review of changes made to the plan and there should be an opportunity for community members to ask questions. Following the community meeting, there will be a joint work session with the planning commission and the board of supervisors as they discuss the plan.
And then, the following night, Wednesday, November 13 (7:00 pm), the planning commission will hold a public hearing. This is your opportunity to make a public comment on the updated plan. There will be a separate public hearing scheduled with the board of supervisors before final approval.
Upon initial review, the updated plan does a good job upholding the goals and objectives supported by the community in previous versions. The addition of photos, graphs, charts also make the plan more visually appealing and easier to follow.
A comprehensive plan guides a community’s growth, development and conservation for the next 20 years and ideally it serves as an important reference when planning commission members and board of supervisors make local decisions to ensure the community’s vision as captured in the comp plan is put in place (see our past article on comprehensive plans here).
Now is the time for Warren County residents to provide input, even if it’s to say you support the update. If you can’t make the meetings, you can submit email comments to your planning commission member, supervisor and planning staff.
