You might recall our summer newsletter where we described how a comprehensive plan provides the vision to guide development within a locality, but that these plans don’t act alone. Comprehensive plans are supported by zoning and subdivision ordinances, so when a locality updates their comprehensive plan, it is important that they update the zoning and subdivision ordinances to implement that plan.
Ordinance updates like these are great opportunities for community members to get involved and help actively shape decisions that affect the future of the county.
To assist with the Page County ordinance update process, The Berkley Group, a Virginia-based planning and consulting firm, was hired to work with the County. The Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission met for a joint worksession on July 7 to kick off the process. See here for a report from the July 7 meeting.
A Public Input Workshop is now planned for Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at 6:00 pm at the Stanley Fire Hall.
