Harrisonburg Rockingham Bike-Walk Summit

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Harrisonburg and Rockingham Bike-Walk Summit, set to take place at The Loft at Liberty St. on Friday, April 12th, from 8 AM to 4 PM.

The Alliance and partners are organizing this event for our local leaders and community to gather and learn ways to implement bike and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure in the region.

This year’s summit will highlight the potential for economic development when transportation and recreation meet.

We are excited to have Ryan Hale, Founder and CEO of Laneshift, join us as a keynote speaker. Ryan has extensive experience in helping to plan and develop the successful trail system in rural Northwest Arkansas. In his words, he has seen “first-hand how investments focused on active mobility can transform communities.”

We’re looking forward to hearing his stories and lessons shared to help guide efforts in our region that further enhance biking and walking infrastructure.

2:15 Excursion – Friendly City Trail
Want to see a cool project already on the ground? Meet us at Hillendale Park for a stroll or bicycle ride along the Friendly City Trail. Meet at 801 Hillandale Ave, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 in the very back of the park, last parking lot on right if you want to walk a section. Otherwise ride your bicycle with us from The Loft at Liberty.

4:00 Optional: Happy Hour at Sage Bird Ciderworks
Sage Bird Ciderworks is located at 325 N Liberty Street a few doors down from our summit venue. We’ll plan to meet here for an informal gathering post summit and following the Friendly City Trail excursion.

5:30 FYI: Pop-up Fun Run/Walk
VA Momentum is hosting a Pop-up Fun Run Friday evening after the summit and anyone can join, no pre-registration required! There will be a waiver to sign upon arrival which gets you discounted drinks at Magpie Diner, Sage Bird Ciderworks, and Rootstock Wine Bar after the event. The run starts at 5:30pm at the Magpie patio and there will be one, three, and five mile options for running or biking. This is a no-stress, community fun run!
