Once a year, the Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham brings together nonprofits that make the Valley a better place to live, work, and play for one big day of online giving—and that day is April 16, from 6 AM to 8 PM.

Great Community Give in Rockingham and Harrisonburg

From conservation to the arts, children’s programs, animal rescues and community services, this is your chance to explore and support the incredible work being done in our region—last year the community collectively raised over two million dollars for local nonprofits!
You may have recently received our letter about the challenges facing farmers due to frozen federal funding and our plan to help. If you’ve already donated—thank you. If not, we’d be honored if you’d include the Alliance in your giving plans for the Great Community Give.
Here’s why:
🌱 We’re working hard to keep conservation programs that support farmers and protect water sources funded and fully staffed.
🚴 We’re still pushing for the Shenandoah Rail Trail—momentum slowed last year, but we’re not giving up. A new VDOT survey is live now—make your voice heard and support the Shenandoah Rail–to–Trail.
🐝 We’ve expanded our conservation speed-dating workshops to match landowners of all parcel sizes, most recently in the Keezletown area, with conservation programs to meet their conservation goals.
💧 For the last 3 years we’ve convened the Smith Creek Watershed Partnership where landowners and partner conservation groups are implementing innovative practices to improve water quality in Smith Creek.
🌼 And—great news! Our project to improve the Silver Lake walking path is complete! Mark your calendar for June 26 to join us for a celebration and check out the new educational signs and pollinator gardens.
These are just a few highlights—we’re always tracking land use proposals to ensure that growth and development is in line with the community supported comprehensive plan so that working farmland is protected and our communities remain vibrant, livable and walkable.
