Last Wednesday, October 22, the Augusta County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve the comprehensive plan, titled “Guiding Augusta, Pathways to 2045.” While the plan is by no means perfect, we applaud the effort and receptivity of the staff that put it together.
A big thank you goes out to those who attended community meetings and offered feedback. We were pleased to see many of these recommendations included in the final version of the plan.
Now the real work begins. Because the plan is so large, effective implementation of key provisions early on will have a major impact on the plan’s ability to guide Augusta constructively over the next 20 years.
The key areas we are focused on are:
- Greenville Small Area Plan (pg 127 and pg 222)
- Land Use Build Out Analysis of the Urban Service and Community Development areas (pg 50)
- Designation of agricultural land as a future land use (pg 83)
- Farm transition planning (pg 39)
More on these efforts and how you can get involved to come!
