SIGNED – SB 1265 – Pipeline Stop Work Orders
Natural gas pipelines; stop work orders.
This legislation improves the state’s oversight and enforcement process of natural gas pipeline construction by lowering the pipe size regulators are authorized to inspect from 36 to 24 inches in addition to defining specific incidences that would trigger an order to halt construction. The need for this legislation is certainly warranted as despite hundreds of water-quality violations by Mountain Valley Pipeline construction, only one of those violations has triggered a stop-work order.
