SIGNED – HB 1958 – South State Scenic River

Scenic river; designates segment in City of Waynesboro as part of Va. Scenic Rivers System.

This legislation designates 6.5 miles of the South River in Waynesboro from South Oak Lane to Hopeman Parkway as the South State Scenic River. If you’ve been to Waynesboro, you know this section of river is well deserving of admission into the Virginia Scenic Rivers System. Additionally, the state uses such scenic designations to determine conservation priorities in its new ConserveVirginia model, so this designation could also give Waynesboro access to more conservation tools. Of note is that designation as a Scenic River does not restrict land use of adjoining properties.

Introduced by: Delegate John Avoli (District 20)
