Shenandoah River; scenic river designation.
This legislation designates an 8.8-mile portion of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River from Chapman Landing boat ramp in Edinburg to the downstream boundary of Seven Bends State Park in Woodstock as a State Scenic River. This section of river is iconic, and as we advocated locally last year, well deserving of admission into the Virginia Scenic Rivers System. Additionally, the state uses such scenic designations to determine conservation priorities in its new ConserveVirginia model, so this designation could increase access to more conservation tools for nearby localities and landowners. Of note is that designation as a Scenic River does not restrict land use of adjoining properties.
