SIGNED – HB 1763 / SB 1162 – Tax Credits for BMPs

Tax credit; agricultural best management practices.

When talking to farmers about clean water goals, time and again, we hear that the real barrier to implementing practices like stream-side fencing and riparian buffers of trees and shrubs is the cost. This bill increases the amount available through tax credits to farmers for implementing water quality improvement practices approved by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts, practices that tend to also lead to increased herd-health and farm productivity. So, in the Alliance’s view this bill is win-win-win for farmers, our water and our local agriculture economy.
