Linzy Cumbia, a seventh-generation farmer in Page County, Virginia, is passionate about protecting the land his family has farmed for generations. On 135 acres of pastureland, Linzy and his family raise beef cattle while leading efforts to implement conservation practices like rotational grazing, stream fencing, and native plantings.
Inspired by neighbors and conservation experts, Linzy’s improvements have boosted soil health, protected water quality, and increased forage productivity. He says. “The land gives back when you take care of it.”
For Linzy, conservation is more than a practice—it’s a way to support his community, preserve rural character, and ensure farming remains viable for generations to come. Now, working at the Alliance, he is excited to help others to protect and preserve their land as well.
